Liu Xiaolu: “All My Life, I’ve Wanted to Know What My Parents Look Like”

“All my life, I’ve wanted to know what my mum and dad look like.”

This is a thought that Liu Xiaolu has carried quietly in her heart for many years.

Liu Xiaolu was born on 25 August 1994.

On 22 August 1997, she was found at the Héjiāngtíng Bridge in Chengdu by a local resident, Xu Huilan, and was taken that same day to the Chengdu Children’s Welfare Institute.

She was later adopted and taken to Belgium. Today, Liu Xiaolu has a loving husband and two wonderful children, and lives a stable and warm life with her family.

Yet despite this, questions about where she comes from have never disappeared.

She hopes to find her biological family in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, and also hopes to locate Ms Xu Huilan, the woman who found and helped her at Héjiāngtíng Bridge all those years ago, so that she may express her gratitude to the stranger who changed the course of her life.

Searching for family is not a rejection of the life she has now, but a way of completing the missing piece of her story.

For Liu Xiaolu, this search is both a response to the past and a way of understanding her own life.

刘小璐出生于1994年8月25日。

1997年8月22日，她在成都市合江亭桥头被市民徐慧兰发现，并于当日送入成都市儿童福利院。

后来，她被领养到比利时。如今的刘小璐，已经拥有一个爱她的丈夫，以及一双可爱的儿女，在新的家庭中生活安稳而温暖。

尽管如此，关于来处的疑问始终没有消失。

她希望找到自己在四川省成都市的亲生家人，也希望能够找到当年在合江亭桥头发现并帮助她的 徐慧兰女士，向这位给予她人生转折的陌生人表达感谢。
