Call for Submissions: Haha! La France
The Mothers’ Bridge of Love (MBL) is delighted to announce that Haha! La France (《戏说法国》), the latest project in our Haha! series, is now open for submissions.
Initiated by MBL in 2025, the Haha! series brings together real-life stories from Chinese people and people of Chinese heritage living around the world. Following the UK and Canadian editions, with a German edition currently in production, the series is now turning to France.
For Haha! La France, MBL is working in partnership with Association Eurasia Montpellier, which is leading the call for submissions and publication in France.
Your Life, Your Story
Living in another country often means navigating a new language, a different culture and the many challenges and surprises of everyday life. Unless these experiences are written down, some may simply disappear with time.
If you are Chinese or of Chinese heritage and have lived, or are currently living, in France, we warmly invite you to share your story.
Your contribution might explore studying or building a career in France, intercultural marriage and family life, encounters between Chinese and French cultures, the challenges of settling into a new society, or simply the memorable moments and everyday experiences that have shaped your life there.
We are looking for authentic personal experiences rather than fiction, told in your own voice.
Submission Details
📌 Format: Personal essays, memoirs, reflections and other forms of non-fiction
📝 Suggested length: 2,000–3,000 words
📅 Submission deadline: 15 December 2026

Haha! La France is a non-profit bilingual publishing project. Proceeds from the publication will support Franco-Chinese cultural exchange activities and educational programmes for students in rural areas of Chengdu.
Every life lived between cultures contains stories worth preserving.
