Bridging Love across Cultures: A Mother's Day Reflection
Each year, on the second Sunday of May, people around the world pause to celebrate the most universal of human bonds: the love of a mother. This day may look different depending on where you are — a card, a phone call, a bouquet of flowers, or simply a quiet moment of remembrance — but the sentiment remains the same: deep gratitude.
At the Mothers’ Bridge of Love (MBL), we understand that motherhood takes many forms. Our mission has always been to honour not just biological mothers, but adoptive mothers, foster carers, and all those who care for children across cultures and continents.
🌍 For families connected through international adoption,
👩👧 For mothers raising children between languages and traditions,
💌 For children searching for birth roots,
💞 And for anyone whose idea of “family” bridges worlds —
This day belongs to you.
A Legacy of Love
Did you know? The modern Mother’s Day, as celebrated in many countries today, began over a century ago as a daughter’s tribute to her own mother’s life of service and care. It has since become a global expression of appreciation for maternal love — love that, in our work, we see reflected in the most extraordinary of ways:
· In adoptive mothers who opened their hearts and homes across oceans, offering love that transcends origin;
· In birth mothers who carry a lifetime of love, whether in reunion or quiet remembrance;
In children painting portraits of “Mum” that blend cultures, colours, and continents.
These are the stories we carry, the stories we share.
To every mother, and everyone who has ever mothered someone:
Thank you. We see you. We celebrate you.
Happy Mother’s Day. 母亲节快乐。
