Ye Menglei: Between Two Worlds, Searching for Where She Comes From | 叶梦蕾：在两种世界之间，寻找自己的来处

“Hello, my name is Ye Menglei, and I am searching for my birth family.”

Menglei was born in China, with an estimated date of birth of 31 August 2005. On 2 September 2005, she was found outside the Wu Jialong Fruit and Vegetable Market at No. 5 Huisui Road in Daye, Hubei Province. At the time, she was only about two days old, dressed in pink autumn clothes and wrapped in a white blanket with kitten patterns and a blue plaid quilt.

After being found, she was taken to the Daye Children’s Welfare Institute, where she lived with a foster family for nearly a year. She was later adopted and brought to the United States, where she grew up in a new family.

Today, Menglei is a university student studying in Massachusetts, USA. She lives with her mother, grandmother, and two dogs, in a home filled with warmth and support.

She is currently in Beijing for a four-month Mandarin language programme. After completing her studies, she plans to travel to Daye with her mother to continue her search for her birth family.

Menglei says she is very close to her adoptive mother, who has always supported her in seeking her roots. She hopes that one day she will be able to meet her birth parents, as well as any siblings she may have, and to build a relationship with them if they are open to it.

“Understanding where I come from is deeply important to me.”

She loves China and has returned to the country several times. For her, searching for family is not only about finding answers, but also about reconnecting with herself and her cultural heritage.

此刻，她正在北京进行为期四个月的中文学习。学习结束后，她将与母亲一起前往大冶，继续他的寻亲之旅。

梦蕾说，他和养母关系非常亲密，母亲也一直支持他寻找自己的根。她希望有一天能够见到自己的亲生父母，以及可能存在的兄弟姐妹，并在彼此愿意的前提下建立联系。
