Mothering Sunday 2026: Honouring Care, Connection, and Love
A Tradition Rooted in Return
In the UK, Mothering Sunday has a long and distinctive history. Originally as a day to return to one’s Mother Church, it later became a time to recognise the importance of care, home, and belonging.
Over time, Mothering Sunday has come to honour not only mothers, but all those who have offered nurture, guidance, and protection — reflecting a broader and more inclusive understanding of what it means to “mother”.
Motherhood in Its Many Forms
Through the work of The Mothers’ Bridge of Love, we see every day that motherhood takes many shapes. It may be biological or adoptive, visible or quiet, temporary or lifelong.
What connects these experiences is not bloodline, but commitment, presence, and care. Mothering is found in listening, in staying, and in continuing to care even when it is difficult.
A Mothering Sunday Wish
On Mothering Sunday 2026, we wish to give appreciation for all who nurture, recognition for care that is often unseen, and understanding that allows love to continue growing.
Happy Mothering Sunday. 🌷
