Maya’s Wish: Finding Her Way Home Before the End

On 17 September 2003, a two-day-old baby girl was found at the gate of the Maternity and Child Health Hospital in Guiping City, Guangxi.

She was given a temporary name and sent to the local welfare institute. A few months later, a family from the United States adopted her. Crossing the ocean, she began a new life in a new world.

They named her Maya.

Under foreign skies, Maya grew up healthy, bright, and gentle. She always knew she was born in China—and that somewhere, buried beneath time, there was a story waiting for her to uncover.

Now twenty-two years old, Maya is battling a brain tumour. Doctors say she may not have much time left.

Yet she feels no resentment—only a single wish: to find her birth parents before her life comes to an end.

She hopes to return to China once more—to stand again before the hospital in Guiping where she was found, and to walk the streets of the city where she was born.

Twenty-two years have passed since the day that tiny infant was left behind. Today, through her courage and kindness, Maya has shown the world the enduring echo of love.

2003年9月17日，广西桂平市妇幼保健院门口，一名刚出生两天的女婴被发现。

人们给她取了一个临时的名字，并将她送往当地福利院。几个月后，她被一户来自美国的家庭收养，远渡重洋，开始了全新的生活。

他们给她取名——玛雅（Maya）。

在异国的阳光下，玛雅健康成长，聪慧温柔。她知道自己来自中国，也知道，有一段被时间掩埋的故事在等待她去寻找。

如今，二十二岁的玛雅正与病魔抗争。医生诊断她患有脑瘤，时间或许已不多。
