Language as a Bridge, Connecting the World | The Fifth UK English–Chinese Bilingual Recitation and Public Speaking Competition Seeks Charitable Partners
The Fifth UK English–Chinese Bilingual Recitation and Public Speaking Competition will take place in London on Sunday, 15 November 2026.
Jointly presented by The Mothers’ Bridge of Love (MBL), KYX International Education and Capital Class, the competition welcomes young people aged 5–21 who are learning Chinese in the UK. Up to 50 finalists across five age groups will perform in English and Chinese.
Language is more than a skill—it is a bridge between people and cultures. Through bilingual recitation, literature and public speaking, the competition helps young people build confidence, strengthen communication skills and develop intercultural understanding.
Following four successful editions, the competition has received continuing support from distinguished professionals in British education, literature, Chinese studies and culture. Previous judges have included James Li, Professor Hugo de Burgh, Dr Seth Cook, Frances Wood, Dr Yukteshwar Kumar, Professor Julia Lovell FBA, Professor Song Lianyi, Michelle Tate, Hilary Spurling CBE FRSL and Dr Biao Zeng.
Their involvement has made the competition more than a stage performance—it is also an opportunity for young people to learn from and engage with leading professionals.
