Educational Toys Spark Young Minds, Warmth Reaches the Taihang Mountains— SUCB / MBL’s 30th B4K Project Donation

In the winter chill of the Taihang Mountains, building blocks were passed gently from hand to hand. They were more than toys — they were keys to exploration, small bridges built with care between young hands and the future.

Once again, love travelled across great distances to reach a school deep in the mountains. This year, Ms Zhu from Sino-UK Culture Bridge (SUCB), together with SUCB’s volunteer team, embarked on another journey of compassion, arriving at the Jincheng Special Education School in Shanxi Province. There, they delivered educational toys and LEGO sets to the children, completing the 30th Books for Kids (B4K) project donation jointly organised by SUCB and Mothers’ Bridge of Love (MBL).

This act of kindness, crossing thousands of miles, brought warmth and light once more to a school nestled in the Taihang Mountains.

Passing on Love and Hope

Founded in 1990, Jincheng Special Education School is the only comprehensive special education school in the city, serving students with hearing, visual and intellectual disabilities. The school currently has 21 teaching classes and 282 students, covering the full range from compulsory education through to vocational upper secondary education.

For many years, the school has balanced rehabilitation training with skills development, nurturing students who have gone on to win awards in provincial-level arts and sports competitions. However, due to limited funding and resources, teaching and learning materials have long fallen short of actual classroom needs.

Following on-site assessment and research, our team swiftly prepared this charitable initiative, donating more than 30 sets of educational teaching aids and LEGO toys, and visiting the school in person to understand the children’s learning and rehabilitation environment.

Through the joint efforts of our volunteers and the school’s teachers, laughter echoed through the bright, spacious classrooms. The sight of children concentrating on building blocks became one of the warmest scenes on campus. As they assembled, collaborated and experimented, the children not only strengthened their focus and practical skills, but also gained confidence and joy through interaction.

One special education teacher shared:

“These educational toys are not just games for them — they are an extension of cognitive training.”

Hand in Hand, Walking with Love

On the day of the donation, volunteers joined the children in class for an Educational Building & Assembly Experience.

Guided by their teachers, the children assembled LEGO number trains, magnetic space cities, Montessori-style learning boards and more. Teachers offered patient encouragement, helping them think creatively and build with their hands. One by one, colourful and imaginative creations came to life, filling the classroom with laughter and applause.

“These toys don’t just spark creativity,” one teacher said emotionally. “They also help train concentration, coordination and communication skills.”

Watching the children actively engage in the activities, we were deeply moved. Education, after all, is never just about passing on knowledge — it is a continuation of love.
Every child deserves to be seen, respected, and treated with kindness.
