Chinese Art Exhibition from MBL & Huggle | Traces of Spring: An Exhibition of Paintings by Daniel Lee and His Students  Exhibition Preview

The Mothers’ Bridge of Love × Charing Cross Library

Spring arrives quietly in London, like a soft glimmer of light awakened by the morning breeze.

‍This spring, The Mothers’ Bridge of Love (MBL), together with Charing Cross Library, will present a poetic art exhibition from the Huggle community, titled Traces of Spring: Paintings by Daniel Lee and His Students.

‍The exhibition will take place at Charing Cross Library in London from 6 April to 3 July 2026 with an opening ceremony on the 11 April. It will feature one representative work by London-based painter and art educator Daniel Lee, alongside paintings created by 32 of his students, all responding to the theme of spring.

‍In this exhibition, visitors will see the spirit of Eastern brushwork intertwined with the subtle shifts of light and atmosphere found in an English spring. The tremble of new leaves on branches and the drifting reflections of clouds after rain are transformed on canvas into moments of quiet tenderness.

‍Having lived in Britain for more than thirty years, Daniel Lee has continually explored the meeting point between Eastern and Western artistic languages through both his painting and his teaching. In his work, the play of light associated with Impressionism and careful observation of nature come together with the expressive spirit of Eastern aesthetics. Through his teaching, he also encourages younger artists to discover their own visual voice.

‍This exhibition is not only a display of paintings. It is also a story of artistic inheritance and personal growth.

‍Within the same space, the work of one artist and thirty-two students is presented side by side. Visitors can see both the continuation of artistic language and the distinctive direction of each individual creator. Like young shoots emerging from the earth in spring, each work grows from shared guidance while developing its own path.

‍Set within the calm reading spaces of the library, the paintings and the surrounding atmosphere of books reflect one another. Visitors are invited to pause between reading and looking, and to rediscover how to observe the world with care.
