“I feel very nervous — a little scared.”

This was what Guo Anna said before setting off on her journey to return to China and meet her birth family.

Guo Anna is from the Netherlands. Before her adoptive mother passed away, she learned that Anna had found her biological parents in China. That news became her mother’s final comfort, and also a deeply held wish she left behind for Anna — to return to China, reunite with her family, and find her roots.

Carrying her mother’s last wish, Guo Anna embarked on the journey back to China. For her, this was not only a search for family across national borders, but also a life journey shaped by farewell and reconnection.

With the full support of volunteers, the search made remarkable progress in just 20 days. Through rapid verification and tireless coordination, they ultimately helped Guo Anna confirm her Chinese family ties.

From the Netherlands to China, from anxiety and uncertainty to slowly drawing closer to the answer — this path was not an easy one. Yet with the companionship and support of the volunteers, she moved step by step towards the place where her life began.

The meaning of searching for one’s family is not simply about finding an answer, but about giving a home to the long-held emotions of a lifetime.
