Anna: My Heart Will Always Be in Gaozhou | 安娜：我的心，永远在高州

“My name is Anna, and my heart will always be in Gaozhou.”

As she says in the video—in her mother tongue and in the dialect of her hometown—Anna was born in Gaozhou. Now she has returned to this land once more, standing on the beautiful Yuelong Mountain. The mountains and rivers remain, the scenery is as picturesque as ever, yet in her heart there is still an emptiness: the unanswered question of her roots.

My Story

Anna was born in July 2000. To the best of her knowledge, she was first found near Chengxi Market in Gaozhou and then taken to the Gaozhou Welfare Institute. There, she was given a second chance at life and was later adopted by an American family, growing up surrounded by care and love.

Many years later, she has returned to China. The greatest wish that brings her back is to find her bloodline—to find the birth parents who gave her life.

What I Want to Say

Anna says she holds no resentment in her heart, only gratitude and longing. She understands that, in those years, there may have been hardships and circumstances that could not be spoken of.

“I just want to tell you this: I’m doing well, and I miss you very much.”
If one day they are able to reunite, she hopes to walk through today’s Gaozhou together with her family—for example, to climb Yuelong Mountain side by side and take in the scenery that feels both familiar and distant.

安娜出生于 2000 年 7 月。据她所知，自己最初是在高州城西市场附近被发现，随后被送往高州市福利院。在那里，她获得了第二次生命，并在之后被一个美国家庭收养，在关爱中长大。

多年以后，她回到中国。此行，她最大的心愿，是找到自己的血脉根源，找到那对给了她生命的亲生父母。

安娜说，她心中没有怨恨，只有感恩与思念。她理解那个年代，或许有着难以言说的苦衷。
