Annie: The Longing Written in a Red Letter | Annie：写在红色书信里的思念

Twenty-eight years ago, a baby girl only a few days old was found outside the Civil Affairs Bureau in Taihe County, Jiangxi Province. The date was 4 April 1998. Left with her was a note recording her date of birth: 31 March 1998.

She was later taken to the Taihe Welfare Institute, where she was given the name Tai Lu. Not long afterwards, she was adopted by an American couple and grew up across the ocean, receiving a new name — Annie.

Alongside her, there had also been a red letter.

In the letter, it was written that her birth mother had passed away from excessive blood loss after giving birth to her, and that her father, overwhelmed by grief, had no choice but to leave for Guangdong to find work.

Many years have passed, yet the letter has remained in Annie’s heart. Now, she has begun her journey to search for family, hoping to find her father.

She has not returned with resentment.

She simply wants to tell him:

“I’ve grown up, and I’m doing well.”

She also hopes to ease the sorrow her father may have carried quietly all these years. If fate allows, she hopes that one day the family may truly reunite.

Searching for family is sometimes more than finding someone who was lost. It is also about completing, after many years, a greeting that was never able to be spoken.
