When asked why she wanted to search for her birth family, Shen Huaqi gave this simple answer.

A Story That Began at Wolong Lake, Shenyang
According to the information currently available, Shen Huaqi was born around 15 February 2002.
On 22 February that year, she was found on an artificial rockery at Wolong Lake in Kangping County, Shenyang, Liaoning Province.
She may have been only about a week old at the time.
She later spent some time at a children's welfare institution in Shenyang before being adopted to the Netherlands.
More than twenty years have passed since then. The baby girl has grown up and built a life of her own in the Netherlands, yet much about her earliest days remains unknown.
She does not know who her birth parents are or where they might be today.
And what she wants most is, in fact, very simple: to meet them.
Another Name: Shen Huabai
Besides searching for her birth family, Shen Huaqi's search also mentions another name: Shen Huabai.
She hopes to establish whether she and Shen Huabai once lived at the same children's welfare institution in Shenyang.
There is currently no confirmed answer to this question.
For international adoptees searching for their origins, however, people who may have lived at the same institution can sometimes provide valuable clues about their early lives.
Perhaps someone still remembers the children, the place where they lived, or has kept photographs or records from that time.
