Lìqiū | 立秋: A Gentle Turning Toward Autumn

Lìqiū, or the Beginning of Autumn, is the 13th of the 24 traditional solar terms in the Chinese calendar. It marks the moment when summer quietly begins to retreat, and the rhythms of nature shift toward harvest, reflection, and renewal.

Though the heat may still cling to the air, ancient wisdom tells us that change begins not with a dramatic gesture, but with something subtle: a soft breeze, a golden edge to the afternoon sun, or the hush of insects fading.

In traditional Chinese culture, Lìqiū is a time for balance and nourishment—both physically and emotionally. Families prepare for the coming season by eating foods that strengthen the body, paying attention to rest, and gently realigning with the turning of time.

At Mother Bridge of Love, we see this seasonal shift as an invitation:

·      To slow down

·      To honour what has grown

·      And to prepare our hearts for what’s to come

As summer begins its graceful farewell, may we each find a moment of stillness, a moment of gratitude, and a renewed connection to the deeper rhythm of life.

Wishing you a peaceful Lìqiū, from all of us at MBL.
