Lü Zhisen: Not Seeking to Fill a Void, Only to Know Where He Comes From | 吕志森：没有缺憾，只有想知道自己从哪里来

In 2002, a baby boy entered the world.

According to the information currently available, he is believed to have been born on 28 October 2002. On 28 February 2003, he was found in the waiting room of Guiyang Railway Station in Guizhou Province. He was later taken into the care of a welfare institution and eventually adopted by an American couple, beginning a new life across the ocean.

His name is Lü Zhisen.

Zhisen was born with a cleft lip and palate. Fortunately, he underwent successful corrective surgery while growing up. He is now in good health and has been raised in a loving and supportive environment.

Many years later, Zhisen began to look back at the earliest part of his life.

He wants to know where he comes from. He also wonders whether those who share his blood are safe and well today.

Searching for one’s birth family does not always arise from a sense of loss.

For many adoptees, it is more a journey of understanding — an attempt to piece together the missing first pages of their lives. Knowing where they come from does not diminish the love they already have. Instead, it may help them understand themselves more fully.

Everyone who begins a family search has their own reasons.
