Colours of Us · Highlights from the MBL 2025 Children’s Art Exhibition and Upcoming Events

On 13 September 2025, the MBL “Colours of Us” Children’s Art Exhibition opened with great celebration at St Martin-in-the-Fields in central London. As part of MBL’s Culture for Children series, the exhibition is jointly presented with the Open House Festival.

Running until 21 September, the exhibition showcases 85 original works by young people from around the world. With imagination and heart, these young artists have painted their own colourful worlds, revealing both resilience and hope.

Among the 85 works, 33 pieces were created by disabled children who are too often overlooked. Some are independent participants, while others come from three dedicated schools in China: the Ark of Love Special Education School (Guangxi), Jincheng Special Education School (Shanxi), and the Stars & Rain Special Education Institute (Beijing). With the support of teachers and parents, these children devoted exceptional patience and focus to their creations—allowing their talents and voices to shine on an international stage.

Every successful exhibition is built on the dedication of volunteers. From preparation to on-site support, our volunteers worked tirelessly to make sure every detail was cared for. Thanks to their efforts, the children’s artworks could be seen and cherished by the public.

In addition to the opening ceremony, two special events are still to come:

Children’s Art Event (20 September, 11:00–12:20)
Led by internationally renowned artist Qu Leilei and British contemporary painter and children’s art educator Caroline Deane, this interactive session will invite children to co-create a collective artwork—an inspiring experience of freedom and creativity.

Closing & Award Ceremony (20 September, 12:30–13:00)
Our advisors will present awards to outstanding young artists, while children and parents share their reflections. The event will conclude with a warm group photo, bringing the exhibition to a celebratory close.

This exhibition would not be possible without the support of an outstanding advisory team. Drawn from the forefront of the UK’s art, education, and charity sectors, they have long supported MBL’s mission and continue to advocate for a society that embraces diversity and equality.

We warmly invite you to step into the world of Colours of Us. Join us on 20 September to celebrate the creativity, courage, and dreams of these young artists.
