The Mothers’ Bridge of Love (MBL), together with the UK Chinese Collectors Club, will host a New Year charity reception on the afternoon of 6 December 2025 at St Martin-in-the-Fields in central London. This event is the sixth in MBL’s annual cultural series Haha! Britain and is themed “Books, Art and Collecting”. By bringing together resources from the arts, culture and the charity sector, it opens an important chapter in the new year’s cultural season.

Date and time: Saturday, 6 December 2025, 14:00–16:00
Venue: Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 4JJ

Art for charity, with all proceeds supporting public-benefit projects

The charity auction will feature paintings, art objects and memorabilia donated by members of the UK Chinese Collectors Club and supporters of MBL. There will also be a special section showcasing publications by British Chinese authors, highlighting the diverse literary and cultural achievements of the community. All proceeds from the auction and book sale will be donated to MBL to support its long-term programmes in education, cultural exchange and assistance for vulnerable children.

This New Year auction is not only a platform for cultural exchange but also carries the important mission of advancing charitable work. We are deeply grateful to collectors, artists and community supporters whose generous contributions help transform art into meaningful social impact.

A cultural gathering in a historic London landmark

The event will take place at St Martin-in-the-Fields, located on the northeast corner of Trafalgar Square. The church dates back to the thirteenth century and was rebuilt between 1711 and 1726 under the direction of the renowned architect James Gibbs. It is considered a model of eighteenth-century British church architecture, and its classical portico and soaring spire have influenced many church designs in the United States and across the Commonwealth.

Beyond its architectural importance, St Martin-in-the-Fields is celebrated for its strong musical tradition and long-standing social engagement. As part of this shared commitment to the arts and community, MBL will once again collaborate with Open House London to present the “MBL Colours of Childhood” exhibition, showcasing the creativity of children and their involvement in society.

Strengthening the visibility of British Chinese culture and encouraging cross-sector collaboration

As a long-term cultural initiative of MBL, Haha! Britain fosters meaningful interaction between the Chinese community and cultural institutions in the UK through dialogue between past and present, interdisciplinary partnerships and public-spirited projects. The upcoming New Year auction will further highlight the richness of Chinese collecting and creative work, strengthening the presence and influence of Chinese voices in the UK’s cultural landscape.

This New Year charity reception will bring together invited guests, partners and supporters of MBL to share in an evening where art, culture and philanthropy meet. We look forward to welcoming our community of collaborators and friends as we celebrate the start of the year together.
